FAQ
What are the service intervals for Ford?
Service intervals for Ford vehicles 2008 and newer are every 8,000 km. If your Ford is 2007 and older, the service intervals would be every 5,000 km. All Fords come with an owner’s manual where you can find the specific maintenance schedule for your vehicle. It will also outline which services need to be completed at each interval.
Does Ford offer free maintenance?
Free maintenance is not included with new Ford vehicle purchases. To further protect your vehicle, Ford offers seven extended service plans for new owners to choose from. The plans vary between how many components are covered along with certain high-tech parts, including cruise control and safety components.
Ford also has two maintenance plans available. These plans are customizable based on time, distance, and service frequency for non-battery electric vehicles.
At Peace River Ford, we complete an 83-point inspection with every service appointment to ensure you know the current condition of your vehicle.
How often does Ford recommend oil changes?
A Ford's engine oil should be changed every 8,000 to 16,000 km. This range will depend on your vehicle’s model year. Driving habits and driving conditions may increase your oil change frequency. These may include:
- Towing
- Short-distance driving
- Driving in extreme temperatures.
It’s important to check your owner’s manual for the most accurate oil change service interval or speak to the team at Peace River Ford.
Is a Ford expensive to maintain?
Your Ford was built to last, and just like any vehicle on the road, it will require regular maintenance and service to keep it on the road longer. Maintenance costs will vary depending on the Ford model you own. For example, according to the CAA's Driving Cost Calculator (caa.ca) the average maintenance cost of a Ford Escape is $1400.00. If you purchased one of Ford’s available extended service plans or maintenance plans, you can finance those costs over a period of time reducing your out-of-pocket expenses.
What does service engine soon mean on my Ford vehicle cluster?
The service engine soon light on your Ford means that more than a routine service is required. If this indicator is on, you should schedule an appointment with either the Peace River Ford team or another Ford-certified service provider right away.
A factory-trained technician will be able to inspect your vehicle and perform a diagnostic test if required. They will be able to determine what’s triggering the light and get your vehicle back running in optimal performance in no time.
Do service plans really save money?
Unforeseen service and maintenance needs can have a negative impact on anyone’s budget. With Ford’s extended service plans, you get peace of mind knowing that your vehicle is covered and 100% backed by Ford Canada, all while being able to finance it over a period of time.
All extended service plans also come with Roadside Assistance. That means if you need towing, a flat tire change, or lockout assistance at any time, you’re also covered! This will further limit your out-of-pocket expenses if anything were to happen to your vehicle.
Does missing a service void my warranty?
The simple answer is that it can. As the owner of the vehicle, it is your responsibility to keep up with the maintenance schedule and that Ford-approved parts are being used. Failure to follow the scheduled maintenance outlined in your owner’s manual will void your warranty coverage on any parts affected by the lack of maintenance.
Which is better, a service or maintenance plan?
To decide which one is better for you, it’s important to look at what is included and covered with each option. Ford extended service plans are more comprehensive and cover parts and labour to repair major components of your vehicle. Ford maintenance plans cover the costs of maintaining a vehicle like oil changes, wiper blades, spark plugs, etc. Both Ford maintenance and service plans through Ford Protect have a number of benefits:
- Avoid future price increases on parts and labour by paying today’s prices
- Finance the cost of your plan over a period of time
- Genuine Ford parts guaranteed
- Ford factory-trained technicians performing all services
- Increase the resale value of your vehicle.
